In this episode of《Behind the Crew Talks》, we have the privilege of inviting renowned Malaysian film producer, Jiāng Zhì'áng, to share the challenges and limitations of shooting locally themed military films. Using his film Paskal: Naval Special Forces, based on real events, as an example, Producer Jiāng discusses how the film overcame numerous obstacles, successfully capturing the audience's attention and achieving impressive results. It also opened doors for collaboration with film units from other countries.
Jiāng admits that the Malaysian film market still faces the issue of limited genres, with military and police-themed works receiving great attention but also risking audience fatigue. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic, actively seeking to try new ideas and hopes to offer the audience a wider and fresher selection, breaking free from traditional boundaries!
