"Have you ever thought about the sounds you might never hear again?"
Tainan, with its rich cultural heritage, welcomes its 400th anniversary in 2024,
but some things are gradually disappearing.
Sheng Li Elementary School in Tainan is the first elementary school in Taiwan to integrate SDGs with its curriculum. Through a course focused on capturing unique sounds representing the city's cultural heritage, children are exposed to a range of auditory experiences, from the rumbling of train tracks to the gentle creaking of ancient wooden doors and the resonating hum of ocean waves. The pursuit of these sounds not only cultivates an appreciation for environmental ecology and cultural values but also instills in children a profound reflection and action towards sustainable urban and rural development. From safeguarding to passing down Taiwan's precious cultural assets to future generations, we are committed to the Earth's sustainability, sowing the seeds of common good through education.
